United We Stand, Divided We Fall
A good motto to remember.
We Americans have united during our most enduring moments and accomplished great feats:
Whether we established our country by snatching it from a despotic king by hanging together so we would not hang separately as Ben Franklin implored;
Whether we build a country out of a vast wilderness from sea to shining sea;
Whether we defeated the fascists in World War II saving the world from their brutality;
Or whether we agreed to send a man to the moon and accomplished it in less than a decade…
We are faced with a similar daunting task with a major fiscal set of problems at the federal level during the time of the second great contraction not unlike that faced in the Great Depression.
We can solve this set of fiscal problems but only if we unite and stand together as we have done in our best moments when we accomplished great feats.
But it will require that we agree that everything must be looked at, that nothing is off the table.
There will be much pain and all of us must share in it.
The expectation is that we will all pay more in taxes and take less in services or subsidies.
The expectation is that we will pay off the debts incurred by our federal government in a faithful way.
By so doing, we are securing the future for our children and grandchildren and their heirs just as our forbears did for us. It is our time and turn to sacrifice. Let us go forward.
This website has been developed to provide information so we can make an informed judgment about our options, the new taxes needed and the cuts in expenditures and subsidies required so we have a balanced budget over time and avert a catastrophic fiscal failure not unlike those endured by Greece or facing France, Italy, Japan, Portugal, and Spain today.

In FY 2013, Social Security made up 24% of the expenditures, Defense 18%, Income Security 16%, Medicare 14%, Other Expenditures 14%, Medicaid 8%, and Debt Interest 6%.
Other than the Mission Statement, each of the 3 main parts and the 7 subdivisions of expenditures will have a financial summary in each area, a list of considerations surrounding each topic, and a list of some of the other proposals that other groups have put together to solve this particular fiscal issue as well as our own.
